The
Western Cordillera

ABOUT THE WESTERN CORDILLERA
The Western Cordillera region covers most of the West coast of Canada. The Western Cordillera covers all of British Colmbia and the Yukon Territory, and a portion covering the southwestern part f Alberta. Most of Western Cordillera’s beauty was made by the forces of erosion. When the glacier period was around the forces that controlled paths of storm did not give a single snow to the cordillera reign. Instead it got shifted into laurentia. This is why there were no glaciers. Canyons, waterfalls, and geysers share its youth with lakes, rivers, and water falls, and things around it.

How was it formed?
The Western Cordillera consists of many mountains, rivers, valleys and lakes. The Western Cordillera is the youngest landform region of Canada, because erosian has not yet occured to the mountains iving them very sharp tall peaks rather than smooth short ones. The high, jagged mountains formed when layers of sedimentary rock were raised during the collision of the North American and Pacific plates during the late Mesozoic and early Cenozoic era. The steep slopes of the Western Cordillera are ideal for skiing and snowboarding. There are three major mountain ranges in the region, the Rocky Mountains, the Coastal Mountains and the Columbia mountains. The cordillera is covered in forests, many of the regions lakes and rivers are famous for just being beautiful.
